Procedure of Application
  for the KCAF Fund

Application

An individual or a group who wishes to receive support from the KCAP Fund is required

to submit an application form prescribed by the KCAF. The relevant information related to the application process is published once a year in major Korean newspapers,

usually by the end of September, and submissions are accepted for the period of one month, normally October.

- Screening of Application

Once an application is submitted, it is screened by the Steering Committee and Grant Screening Panels, subcommittees from each art genre. Normally, there are two

screening sessions for each application before a final agreement is reached, according

to the deliberation of the year's budget by the Steering Committee.

An in-depth consideration by the Steering Committee follows genre-specific

screening by each of eight committees in the areas of literature, visual arts, music,

dance, theater, traditional arts, experimental arts and arts-related culture.

A final decision on the project and the size of support is made by the Steering

Committee, after considering the distinct features of each support program and the

applied project. The members of the Committee are appointed by the Minister of Culture and Tourism, while the subcommittee members are chosen by the chairman of the KCAF. The term for every member of the Committee and the subcommittees is one year.

- Points of Review

¡æ Artistic excellence of the applied project

¡æ Validity and appropriateness of the applied project

¡æ Expected contribution to the development of the related field

¡æ Capability of the applicant (individual or group)

- Final Decision and the Awarding of Grants

The screening results are instantly notified to the selected individual or group, and the

grant is paid either in a lump sum or by installment.

- Evaluation of the Project

All the grant winners are required to submit final report in a format specified by the KCAF within one month after the production is finished. Once the report is received, the KCAF carries out its own assessment based on the report. For some projects the KCAF carries out an on-site evaluation with a team of experts, and all evaluation results are reflected

in the screening process in the following years.
