Insa
Art Space
The
Insa Art Space of the Korean Culture and
Arts Foundation is an experimental art center
for young artists that is located on the
main street of the well-know Insa area of
Seoul, where contemporary art and tradition
culture coexist.
It
was established by the Ministry of Culture
and Tourism during the monetary crisis at
the end of the nineties to help needy artists.
Today
it is considered a model for government
support for the arts, one that, through
systematic and ongoing aide, transformed
a time of artistic crisis into a cultural
opportunity.
The
opening of the Insa Art Space, in May 2000,
was also the catalyst for and a supporter
of the establishment of a spontaneous network
of vital alternative spaces.
In
October 2003 it will move into its new space,
also located in the Insa area, where it
will continue to play its central role on
the contemporary Korean art scene by organizing
a variety of programs and exhibitions with
timely themes that reveal and support promising
artists.
Insa
Art Space offers subscriptions of Preview
Exhibitions
Insa
Art Space supports exhibitions of capable
new artists. An artist is selected through
the annual public subscription of exhibitions,
and the exhibition space and expenses are
donated to the selected artist for a three
week exhibition.
